Streaming 7/18/11.  Pitifully Undistinguished

One would think that at this critical time in our history the candidates for President would be of the highest intellectual caliber.  Sadly, that is not true.

On the Democratic side, we have a President standing for re-election who has thus far not distinguished himself with either economic or political leadership.  On the Republican side, we have a plethora of candidates whose ideas are stale and who have taken positions diametrically opposed to fact.

In this program, Dr. Porter discusses the dangers of this undistinguished field and offers positions on the issues which cry out for representation by people of greater intellect.

Streaming 7/4/11:   Here’s Why Not

The fixes for the healthcare, Social Security, and defense debts which are swamping our nation are really not difficult.  Nor would it be difficult to give the people of this country the right to vote directly for President and Vice President.  And it would not be hard to return to the taxes of 1960 when corporations and millionaires did just fine while paying a much more equitable share of revenue than they do today.

In this program, Dr. Porter discusses our fiscal and governmental problems and their solutions in very specific terms.  But he also explains why the solutions will not be applied and why he believes that America will continue its downward march from an egalitarian democracy to an oligarchy of the wealthy, a downward march which will eventually make our nation unrecognizable to its founding fathers.

Streaming 6/20/11.   How Green Was Our Valley

The oscar for best picture of 1941 went to a film entitled How Green Was My Valley.  It told the story of the disintegration of a Welsh coal-mining town through the eyes of the youngest boy of one of the town’s families.  Driven by the greed of profits, the owners of the mine hire cheap labor so that one-by-one older and better workers lose their jobs.  The young boy sees his brothers go off to foreign lands to seek employment, his father killed by the unsafe mining practices of the day, and eventually his green and happy valley turned into a dirty, miserable slag heap.

Had the film been produced today, it could not any better describe the economic realities facing American workers as millions of jobs flee the nation and economic recovery, so to speak, occurs without gains in employment.  In this important radio broadcast, Dr. Porter discusses the deliberate engineering of America’s rise in unemployment and offers a way in which the trend might be stopped and reversed.

Title:  Mud Wallowing

Description:  So much of our media is devoted to sensationism.  If it involves sex, violence, pain, or prurience, it is hyped and sold to a ravenous public.  When mud wallowing invades the political process, the democracy is greatly weakened.  In this program, Dr. Porter discusses America’s political mud wallowing and offers ways in which it can be reduced so that we can concentrate on real problems and their solutions.
